Design Argument
This lesson is part of a key stage three scheme of work titled ‘can we prove God exists?’ The lesson provides an introduction to the design argument with some simple comprehension activities.
Bundle
Easter
This bundle comprises of three lessons complete with lesson plans. The trio begins with a lesson on Lent which urges students to reflect on the practice of fasting and abstinence before moving onto a lesson on Holy Week. This lesson draws on the Biblical events of the last week of Jesus’ life. Finally the Easter lesson focus’ on the symbolism of Easter day and concludes with a comparative exam question which reflects on the Easter and Christmas festivals.

Vesak and dharma day
This powerpoint covers both Vesak and dharma day as two individual but short lessons which are aimed to take around 30 mins each. It can be adapted easily to be used as two distinct full lessons.
The dharma day lesson has a good SMSC quality.
The Covenant
Students examine what the covenant is and why it is an essential aspect of Judaism. They do this through examining key moments of revelation. This lesson has both paired and individual activities. It encourages reflections on symbolism.

Being a good muslim
This lesson explores the idea of ihsan. It urges students to consider the idea of 'doing the beautiful' in everyday life and the difficulties in achieving this.
Note: I was observed taking this lesson by ofsted who gave me very positive feedback, they liked the SMSC aspects and stressed that the resources were outstanding.
Bar bat mitzvah short lesson
This is a short lesson that can be easily expanded. It introduces the ideas of coming of age and how this is recognised/celebrated in Judaism.
Christian life cycle - Baptism
This lesson provides an introduction to the Christian life cycle. It explores the connection between John the Baptism and the recreation of the ritual of baptism in modern Christian rites of passage.
The Destruction of Soloman's Temple
This lesson explores the significance of the destruction of Soloman's Temple and how it lead to the Jewish People becoming a 'people of the book'.
There are paired and individual activities. This lesson is very SMSC driven.
The Sacraments/Prayer - confession
This lesson explores the sacrament of confession. It looks at the importance of the act of confession from an experiential perspective and draws on the a literary source to help students understand the complexities and importance of this form of prayer.
This lesson suitable for mid to high ability students. It will need differentiation for those less able.

Christianity and Family Life
This lesson explore the Christian teaching on the importance of family. Students consider the family metaphorically and then look at what the Bible teaches and consider if it links with the churches teachings.

Christian worship
This lesson is the first of two which look at Christian acts of worship. The lesson focus’ on getting students to think about acts of worship outside of church, specifically art and music. There is also an exercise on praise which aims to give students experiential knowledge on why this is important.

Antisemitism
The lesson begins with an activity aimed at exploring how as humans we are conditioned into making judgements/assumptions about things which distort reality.
The lesson goes onto to explore the experience of Anne Frank through an extract of her diary and an extended writing exercise.
Christianity and racial harmony
This lesson looks at Christian teachings on racial harmony firstly through the parable of the Good Samaritan and later through a collection of images that can be related to religion and racial tensions across the globe.
Pilgrimage to Israel
This lesson looks at the spiritual value of a pilgrimage made to Israel from a Christian perspective. Using a carousel activity students visit six different key locations in the Holy land and reflect on their biblical significance and how visiting such places may help a Christian feel closer to God.

Sacraments: Ordination - without lesson plan
This lesson looks at the sacrament of ordination. Students learn about what is involved in the vocation of the priesthood and the process of becoming ordained.

Easter - without lesson plan
In this lesson students consider the symbolism of Easter, why it is an important festival for Christians and asks students to compare the theological importance of Easter with that of Christmas.
The Jewish Diaspora
This lesson explores what is meant by diaspora. I have always used this lesson with ethnically mixed classes which certainly helps with the starter activity. The lesson looks at the history of the Jewish Disapora and reflects on the unique nature of Judaism as both a religion and an ethnicity.
This lesson is suitable for mid-high ability students. It will need differentiation for weaker students.
Lent - without lesson plan
This lesson explore the theological basis of lent and encourages students to reflect on why the practice of giving up things we love/enjoy can be beneficial for ourselves and wider society.
